School Custodian

About the role

The Custodian ensures that the school environment is safe, clean, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. Working under the guidance of the Principal, Assistant Principal, or Director, the custodian maintains the building, grounds, and facilities throughout the school day and during authorized after‑hours periods.

Key responsibilities

• Clean classrooms, corridors, restrooms, and common areas daily; sweep, dust, mop, and disinfect surfaces.
• Maintain HVAC systems to provide appropriate temperature control and conserve energy.
• Raise and lower the US flag and ensure proper display.
• Perform routine yard work, including grass cutting, tree trimming, and litter removal.
• Conduct minor building repairs, service mechanical equipment, and schedule preventive maintenance.
• Manage opening and closing procedures, securing doors, windows, and lights.
• Monitor safety hazards, report incidents promptly, and keep an inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Assist with seasonal tasks such as window washing, floor stripping/waxing, painting, and furniture rearrangement.

Required profile

• Reliability and ability to work independently on a full‑time schedule.
• Physical capability to perform cleaning, lifting, and outdoor maintenance tasks.
• Commitment to safety standards and prompt reporting of any concerns.
