Preliminary Design & Sizing Engineer – Future Projects

About the role

Airbus Helicopters is seeking a Preliminary Design & Sizing Engineer to join the Product Policy & Architecture Department in Marignane, France. You will contribute to the early‑stage development of next‑generation rotorcraft, improving prediction capability, convergence, and risk mitigation through optimisation and innovative concepts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preliminary design and sizing activities during exploration and feasibility phases for future helicopter projects.
• Conduct pre‑design studies with multinational partners, focusing on aeromechanical convergence, performance optimisation, weight, and cost.
• Develop and enhance pre‑design tools and methodologies.
• Provide strategic influence and act as a focal point for military customers and governmental authorities.
• Collaborate with aircraft architects, competition analysts, industrial designers, and weight & balance experts.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in aerospace, mechanical or a related field.
• Experience in preliminary design, sizing, and concept studies for aircraft or rotorcraft.
• Ability to work in a multinational, military‑focused environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
