Platform Engineer (Infrastructure & Automation)

About the role

Airbus Helicopters is accelerating its shift to a Software Defined Infrastructure. As a Platform Engineer you will drive automation across private, public (AWS, GCP) and future sovereign cloud environments, ensuring a robust, service‑oriented ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and eliminate manual, repetitive tasks (toil) by designing and implementing an end‑to‑end automation framework based on SRE and LEAN principles.
• Define and standardise infrastructure deployment using Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) and GitOps across on‑premise, public and sovereign clouds.
• Participate in the technical onboarding of a sovereign/trusted cloud platform, adapting automation and security standards for highly sensitive workloads.
• Lead continuous security patching, hardware lifecycle management and CMDB (ServiceNow) data completeness.
• Support the resilience strategy by automating virtual‑machine lifecycles and recovery workflows for the Isolated Recovery Environment.
• Collaborate with the Cloud & DevOps team on private, public and sovereign cloud initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong background in cloud infrastructure automation and platform engineering.
• Experience working with multi‑cloud environments (AWS, GCP) and on‑premise virtualization.
• Familiarity with SRE, LEAN methodologies and resilience/recovery concepts.
• Ability to design, document and evolve automation solutions that meet security and compliance requirements.
