Installation Engineer – Semiconductor Equipment (Europe)

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductor chips and advanced displays, is looking for an Installation Engineer to support its European regions (Dresden, Germany; Dublin, Ireland; Grenoble, France) within the Installation team. The team installs, rolls in, assembles, connects and tests new semiconductor production equipment before handing it over to the service team and customers. The role is full-time, with about 75% of working time spent travelling across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Install equipment independently, from mechanical assembly and electrical connections to robot calibrations, and troubleshoot issues during inspection
• Follow checklists and procedures, ensuring correct procedures and schematics are available before work starts
• Test equipment with the help of senior engineers, existing documentation and diagnostic techniques
• Respond to factory issues by communicating with other engineers and taking part in escalation conference calls
• Take part in continuous improvement projects to shorten installation cycle time and costs
• Report status, hours worked and non-conformances accurately
• Adhere to Applied Materials' security policy and customer quality standards

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree with a technical background (mechanical assembly, equipment installation, maintenance, mechatronics, electronics, electrical, mechanical or similar); the position is open to junior profiles
• Troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical issues during system installation
• Ability to communicate daily handovers and equipment status reports, and to manage installation projects within budget, timeline and quality requirements
• Good English, written and spoken
• Extensive travel across Europe (about 75% of the time)

Required skills

• Good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work autonomously
