Engineering Manager – Lead a Growing Sports Tech Team

About the role

ScorePlay is building an AI‑powered media infrastructure for the world’s biggest sports organisations. As Engineering Manager you will partner with the Head of Engineering to shape the team structure, mentor engineers and ensure high‑quality delivery at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, mentor and grow a team of 4–6 engineers, conducting regular 1:1s, code reviews and career planning.
• Own the delivery rhythm of feature teams, translating product goals into technical plans and removing blockers.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and customers on API integrations, grooming sessions and technical feasibility.
• Define and implement processes, rituals and best practices to support sustainable scaling.
• Partner with talent acquisition on hiring and onboarding of new engineers.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with at least 2–3 years leading engineers.
• Proven ability to mentor developers, improve team velocity and maintain code quality.
• Comfortable staying hands‑on with architecture reviews, debugging complex issues and occasional prototyping.
• Experience in a high‑growth startup or scale‑up where engineering processes were being built.
