Designer R&D

About the role

The R&D Designer will create and deliver technical solutions that meet customer needs while adding value to the product portfolio. Working closely with sales, operations, quality and other cross‑functional teams, the role ensures seamless development of automotive components in a multinational environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop products respecting quality, cost, deadline and industrialisation constraints.
• Produce 3D models and 2D drawings according to customer specifications.
• Act as the main interface with the project manager throughout the APQP process.
• Collaborate with the Quality department to create DFMEA and conduct validation tests.
• Prototype parts using 3D printing and perform FEA calculations with detailed reports.
• Ensure designs are feasible, align with specifications and improve existing products.
• Support the sales team in technical meetings and guarantee timely project execution.
• Maintain and deliver technical data to clients.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related field (Master’s a plus).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in design, tooling, engineering, R&D or innovation within the automotive sector.
• Hands‑on experience with plastic injection molding and fastener design.
• Proven ability to work with cross‑functional and global teams.
• Strong leadership, intercultural communication and strategic problem‑solving skills.
• Fluent in English and French.

• Advanced CAD proficiency, preferably CATIA.
• FEA simulation knowledge.
• 3D printing prototyping.
• Plastic injection molding expertise.
• Fastener design.
• Familiarity with APQP and DFMEA processes.
