Design Management Director – Data Center Projects

About the role

Data4 is looking for a Design Management Director to lead the design delivery function for its data centre and campus infrastructure projects across Europe. You will be the technical authority for multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring that solutions meet the company’s standards, client requirements and performance targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead high‑level, low‑level and campus master‑planning design, setting strategic implementation with internal teams and supply‑chain partners.
• Act as technical authority for CSA, MEP, controls, networks and power sub‑station disciplines.
• Interface with clients during sales and delivery phases, and manage permitting processes with local authorities.
• Guarantee maximum IT capacity, SLA compliance, and efficiency targets such as PUE and WUE across the portfolio.
• Standardise programmes, optimise design cost metrics and drive modular/prefabricated approaches.
• Select and validate design consultants and maintain high‑quality vendor relationships.
• Define construction methods, ensure buildability and oversee construction review strategies.
• Coordinate commissioning readiness and support technical discussions during contract negotiation and execution.

Required profile

• Technical design engineering background (Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural, ICT, Civil/Structural).
• More than 5 years experience in data‑centre design and delivery.
• Proven leadership of multi‑discipline design scopes from master‑planning to detailed design.
• Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Highly accountable, proactive, and quality‑first mindset.
