Customs Manager

About the role

Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group is expanding its AliExpress customs and compliance program across Europe. The Customs Manager will lead the digital transformation of e‑commerce logistics, ensuring fully automated customs clearance for both B2C and B2B shipments.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with EU customs regulations for all import activities.
• Supervise daily customs operations, coordinating with internal logistics, compliance teams, customs brokers, authorities, 4PL partners, and Cainiao smart sorting centers.
• Drive process optimisation, automation, and risk‑management improvements in customs workflows.
• Negotiate supplier contracts to achieve cost reductions while meeting business needs and mitigating risk.
• Serve as the primary liaison with customs authorities, logistics partners, and internal departments such as Finance, Legal, Customer Service, Risk, and Procurement.

Required profile

• Degree in Business, Customs, International Trade, Supply Chain or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Project‑management experience, preferably with IT‑related projects.
• Strong knowledge of EU customs regulations for B2C and B2B shipments, including guarantees and bonded warehouses.
• Proven ability to monitor KPIs, analyse data and deliver cost‑efficient solutions.
• Excellent communication skills in French and English; Chinese is a plus.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, constantly changing environment.
