Consultant Manager - Special Situation Advisory (F/H)

About the role

Forvis Mazars is hiring a Consultant Manager for its Special Situation Advisory practice, based at the Levallois-Perret campus in Paris. The team supports C-level leadership in high-value, sensitive and time-critical situations, working across financial, accounting and operational issues. The role involves frequent on-site assignments, often at short notice and mainly overseas, with several consecutive weeks abroad.

Key responsibilities

• Operational diagnostics in subsidiaries in difficult situations, such as degraded financial information, restricted access to key interlocutors, management or governance failures, or post-acquisition environments with limited visibility.
• Accounting reconstruction and remediation, including rebuilding financial statements after a system failure and correcting material errors before closing or audit deadlines.
• Financial reporting and KPI implementation, setting up reliable reporting lines between headquarters and distant or politically complex subsidiaries.
• Crisis and profit warning management, helping boards quantify accounting impacts and stabilise operations.
• Interim finance leadership, temporarily taking charge of a finance function.
• Setting up and winding down structures, including subsidiary openings in Africa, Latin America and Asia, and closures, demergers and workforce reduction plans.
• Complex project management (PMO) where no governance framework exists and deadlines are at risk.

Required profile

• Master's degree from a leading business or engineering school, or equivalent, with a strong foundation in finance or accounting.
• At least three full annual cycles in external financial audit or advisory within a leading firm (Big Four or equivalent).
• 5+ years of experience in external audit, advisory, restructuring or transaction services, with significant exposure to complex, cross-border or multi-entity environments.
• Leadership experience managing teams and supervising junior and senior staff, and contribution to business development.
• Interest in operational and international assignments, with the ability to deploy quickly and work in unfamiliar environments.
• Comfortable in crisis or high-pressure situations, with strong analytical rigor even with limited information.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, strong synthesis skills, and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Full professional proficiency in English, at least one other language, and at least intermediate French.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of financial statement analysis and accounting standards (IFRS, US GAAP, French GAAP).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; data analytics tools are a plus.
