Compliance Officer AVP

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is hiring a Compliance Officer AVP for its Paris branch. The Compliance Department ensures the Paris branch operates in line with all applicable laws, regulations, industry standards and internal policies. The role covers both regulatory compliance and financial crime, supports the business lines of the Paris branch and works closely with other Paris functions and the London-based Regional Headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the contact point for local escalation of compliance concerns, transaction questions, incidents and breaches of legal, regulatory or Group policy requirements.
• Review AML and sanctions alerts, investigate potential money laundering and fraud, and draft suspicious activity reports (SAR).
• Analyse EU and French laws and regulations, report risks to senior management and advise the business on transactions.
• Prepare reports, meeting materials and risk assessments for internal audit, regulators and ad-hoc requests.
• Review compliance policies covering financial crime (KYC, sanctions, AML, ABC) and core compliance (market conduct, cross-border transactions, data privacy).
• Analyse the impact of new laws and regulations in coordination with the Legal Department.

Required profile

• 3 to 5 years in a wholesale/investment banking compliance function, with regulatory compliance and/or financial crime experience.
• Master's degree in Business Law, Banking Law, Financial Law or similar, or in Compliance, Internal Control and Risk Management, Finance or Auditing, or a business school degree specialising in compliance, risk management or regulatory affairs.
• Fluent English and French, written and spoken.
• Well organised, proactive and reliable under pressure, enjoys teamwork.

Required skills

• Applying legal and regulatory requirements to practical situations.
• Using systems such as SIRON or screening systems, or other in-house systems such as a core banking system.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
