CAD Design Engineer – Thermal Protection Systems

About the role

The Exploration Company is seeking a CAD Design Engineer with a strong focus on Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) to support the design of its modular, reusable orbital vehicle, Nyx. You will work across the full design lifecycle, from early concepts to detailed definition, ensuring TPS integrates seamlessly with spacecraft structures.

Key responsibilities

• Develop TPS CAD models in Siemens NX from architectural concepts to detailed design.
• Support primary and secondary spacecraft structure CAD design, aligning with TPS constraints.
• Define and model TPS elements, ensuring structural integration and robust interfaces with avionics, propulsion, and mechanisms.
• Iterate models based on thermo‑mechanical and structural analysis loops, material trade‑offs, and system‑level constraints.
• Maintain configuration management of CAD data and contribute to mass estimation and tracking.
• Produce technical drawings, documentation, and participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR).
• Collaborate with thermal, structural, materials, and manufacturing engineers to converge on feasible solutions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of CAD design experience for spacecraft structures or TPS.
• Strong knowledge of aerospace vehicle design challenges and composite material manufacturing.
• Fluent English; additional languages (German, French, Italian) are a plus.
