Business Development Manager – Plant Extracts, Personal Care

About the role

Evonik is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead the growth of its botanical extracts portfolio for cosmetic applications across key Southern European markets. You will shape the commercial strategy, build strong customer relationships, and translate market trends into compelling product concepts.

Key responsibilities

• Drive business development of botanical extracts for cosmetics, initially focusing on France, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
• Build and manage a robust opportunity pipeline aligned with the segment’s commercial strategy.
• Identify, approach and develop new and existing customers to generate project leads and long‑term collaborations.
• Conduct in‑person and virtual meetings to present extract concepts, emphasizing storytelling, sensory value and consumer wellbeing.
• Promote Evonik’s sourcing excellence, quality standards, flexibility and customization capabilities.
• Support Sales Managers with botanical expertise, trend insights and project coordination.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Segment Management and Applied Innovation to create market‑relevant concepts.
• Represent the segment at trade shows, conferences and customer seminars.
• Monitor market dynamics, competitor activity and emerging consumer trends.
• Report opportunities and project progress through the Microsoft Dynamics 365 system.

Required profile

• Strong passion for plants, nature‑derived ingredients and botanical storytelling.
• Understanding of the origin, history, symbolism and emotional value of botanical extracts.
• Proven experience in business development or sales within the cosmetics or personal‑care sector.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365 for opportunity and project reporting.
