Backend Engineer – Awareness Team

About the role

Riot is looking for a Backend Engineer to join the Awareness Team, the group behind the company’s flagship chat‑based cybersecurity training platform. You will help build and scale the infrastructure that delivers short, interactive courses to millions of employees via Slack, Teams, Google Chat and email.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services that power real‑time, chat‑based learning experiences.
• Ensure reliable delivery of content at scale, handling high‑volume traffic and complex organizational hierarchies.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to own features end‑to‑end, from specification to production.
• Implement and improve authoring tools that enable security teams to create custom training quickly.
• Leverage AI tooling to accelerate development, testing, and code review processes.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving mindset with a focus on building robust, scalable systems.
• Ability to work autonomously in a small, senior team and voice technical concerns early.
• Experience shipping fast, high‑quality software in a SaaS environment.
