AI Application Architect

About the role

Avanade's Global Integrated Center of Excellence (ICOE) is looking for a hands-on AI Application Architect to join its Application & Infrastructure SME team. You will design intelligent, agentic, cloud-native applications and apply advanced AI techniques across the full delivery lifecycle, from analysis and design to build, test, deploy and operate. You will support Avanade Regions on direct and indirect deals during solutioning and delivery, and lead high-impact initiatives across Azure, AWS and GCP.

Key responsibilities

• Architect AI-powered applications using autonomous and semi-autonomous agentic frameworks.
• Apply AI agents across all delivery phases: analysis, design, build, test, deploy and operations.
• Modernise legacy applications using agentic AI for discovery, transformation and refactoring.
• Define end-to-end architectures combining traditional software, LLMs, vector stores and orchestration.
• Drive AI adoption within Avanade Regions and contribute to solution planning and design in multi-cloud environments.
• Develop accelerators, reference architectures and reusable assets for agentic AI patterns.
• Guide engineering, data and DevOps teams on AI automation and pipeline integration.
• Travel occasionally for high-value client engagements.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience designing and developing enterprise-scale applications.
• Proven delivery experience applying agentic AI to modernise legacy systems or build new solutions.
• Ability to explain complex AI concepts to technical and executive audiences, and to mentor teams.
• Cloud, AI engineering or architecture certification is a plus.

Required skills

• Software engineering foundation covering frontend, backend, APIs, data and cloud architecture.
• Primary language expertise in Java or C#, with hands-on Python, Rust and TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Agentic AI frameworks such as AutoGen, Semantic Kernel or LangChain.
• LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, vector databases and orchestration.
• Strong Azure expertise preferred, with AWS and GCP exposure.
• DevOps and MLOps: CI/CD, IaC, automated testing, observability and deployment automation.
• Familiarity with data engineering, ML models, Responsible AI and enterprise governance.
