Cybersecurity Manager / Senior Engineer – Energy Sector (Freelance)

About the role

Our client, a specialist engineering consultancy supporting a major energy organisation, is looking for an experienced Cybersecurity Manager or Senior Cybersecurity Engineer on a long‑term freelance basis. You will operate in a highly regulated, technically complex environment, helping to strengthen governance, risk management and security operations across critical infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cybersecurity initiatives and programmes within engineering and energy‑sector projects.
• Manage cyber risk, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with technical teams, project managers and business stakeholders.
• Support security architecture design, risk assessments and governance activities.
• Drive best‑practice adoption across projects and operational environments.
• Provide leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of cybersecurity experience.
• Proven leadership or managerial experience.
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity governance, risk, compliance and security operations.
• Experience in energy, industrial, engineering, utilities or other regulated sectors is highly desirable.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in France; French language skills are a plus.
