Senior Legal Counsel – Gas, Power & Trading

About the role

ENGIE is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its Gas, Power, Trading & Giants legal team within the Supply & Energy Management business unit. The role supports business development, regulatory compliance and transactional activities for gas, power and emerging low‑carbon products across France, Belgium and other European markets.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate sales and purchase agreements, hedging contracts, storage and transportation agreements, tolling contracts and intra‑group arrangements.
• Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, ensuring contracts align with best practices, company policy and procedural frameworks.
• Provide advice on operational events during contract performance, including force majeure, delivery failures, off‑specification issues, logistics, credit support and pre‑dispute matters.
• Support business platforms in structuring new deals, preparing term‑sheets and pre‑transactional documentation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in energy law, particularly gas and power markets, including green and low‑carbon gases.
• Proven ability to work with senior business stakeholders, operational teams and legal management.
• Strong understanding of European energy regulations and commodity trading frameworks.
