Junior IT Facilities / Helpdesk Level 2 Engineer

About the role

As a Junior IT Facilities / Helpdesk Level 2 Engineer you will join the infrastructure operations team supporting the European Parliament’s IT environment in Strasbourg. You will assist with daily data‑center operations, hardware handling and Level 2 incident resolution while gaining exposure to a multicultural, high‑profile setting.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day operations in data centres and IT rooms, including hardware installation, cabling and equipment moves.
• Maintain asset lifecycle processes, inventory and CMDB data, and ensure documentation such as rack layouts is up to date.
• Monitor capacity (rack space, power, cooling) and assist with rack organization and cabling management.
• Handle and resolve Level 2 incidents and service requests, performing first‑line analysis, troubleshooting and escalation.
• Support Windows infrastructure, DNS and Active Directory services, and participate in incident management, PIR activities and change management.

Required profile

• Junior candidate with first experience or internship in IT support, infrastructure or facilities.
• Motivated to learn operational activities, organized, rigorous and customer‑oriented.
• Good communication skills, able to work autonomously and proactively in stressful, international environments.

• Windows Server environments
• Active Directory and DNS fundamentals
• IT monitoring and supervision tools
• Ticketing/incident management tools (ServiceNow is a plus)
• Basic networking knowledge
• Structured cabling and hardware handling
• CMDB and asset inventory management
• Familiarity with data‑center or virtualization operations
