Backend Engineer

About the role

Riot is building a product‑first platform that makes cybersecurity awareness fun and effective for employees. As a Backend Engineer you will help scale the chat‑based learning experience and the simulation tools that protect millions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services that deliver 4‑minute chat courses at scale.
• Implement reliable data pipelines for organizational hierarchy modeling and content personalization.
• Build and improve authoring tools that enable security teams to create custom training quickly.
• Collaborate with product, design, and front‑end teams to ship end‑to‑end features.
• Ensure high performance, security, and observability of all backend components.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving mindset with a passion for building scalable systems.
• Experience working in small, senior‑driven teams where engineers own features end‑to‑end.
• Ability to work independently and contribute to product decisions.

Required skills

• Backend development (e.g., Node.js, Go, Python, or similar).
• API design and implementation.
• Database design and query optimization.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of security best practices.
