Andean Textile Qualitative Research & Information Management Specialist (Volunteer)

About the role

Hecho por Nosotros (HxN), in partnership with animaná, is seeking a volunteer specialist to lead qualitative research and information management on Andean textile traditions. The role focuses on documenting historical, cultural, and social dimensions of textiles across the Andean region.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct qualitative research on Andean textile techniques, symbolism, cultural meanings, and ancestral knowledge.
• Gather and analyse academic sources, historical documents, and artisan testimonies from Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina.
• Systematise and organise diverse forms of knowledge into accessible information repositories.
• Produce research outputs that support the preservation and dissemination of Andean textile heritage.
• Collaborate with the HxN and animaná teams to integrate findings into broader projects.

Required profile

• Background in anthropology, textile studies, cultural heritage, or related social sciences.
• Experience with qualitative research methods and interview techniques.
• Familiarity with Andean cultures and languages is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and manage information systematically.
• Fluency in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
