Transportation Manager

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Transportation Manager to lead the European surgical transportation network. The role will act as a subject‑matter expert, driving analysis, projects and continuous improvement across secondary transportation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support surgical freight initiatives and act as single point of contact for multiple transportation topics.
• Prepare and monitor the annual carrier budget.
• Oversee shipment flows and collaborate with manufacturing sites, 3PL providers and distribution centers.
• Coordinate with Global Transportation, supply‑chain hubs, warehouses, IT and other functions.
• Participate in weekly orchestrator calls and lead transportation topics across countries.
• Work with procurement on RFQs and ad‑hoc freight cost analysis.
• Perform statistical analysis, track KPIs and drive continuous‑improvement projects.
• Resolve routing errors, late pickups/deliveries and support financial targets through operational excellence.

Required profile

• Relevant education in logistics, supply chain or related fields.
• Experience in transportation management, freight forwarding or vendor management.
• Strong understanding of logistics processes, customs compliance and GxP‑aligned documentation.
• Proactive problem‑solving, clear communication and accountability.
