Thermal Engineer – Space Systems

About the role

Astroscale France is seeking a Thermal Engineer to join its Systems Engineering Group in Toulouse. You will support the design, analysis, and verification of thermal control systems for rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking (RPOD) space missions, ensuring thermal performance meets mission requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Capture thermal requirements and constraints from CONOPS and subsystem stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain detailed thermal models (GMM/TMM) throughout the project lifecycle.
• Perform thermal analyses using tools such as ESATAN‑TMS or Systema Thermica.
• Collaborate with structure, MCAD, and AIT teams to trade off thermal and mechanical constraints and optimise test setups.
• Execute thermal test campaigns, analyse results, and produce technical documentation.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of commercial experience as a thermal engineer on space systems.
• Proven ability to lead technical tasks and work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Professional level English (minimum C1).

Required skills

• Thermal analysis tools: ESATAN‑TMS, Systema Thermica.
• Scripting/programming: Python, VBA, Matlab, batch scripting.
• CAD software experience: SolidWorks.
