Sustainable Textile Initiative Internship – UNEP

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a motivated intern to support its Textile Initiative, which drives a just transition toward a sustainable and circular textile and fashion value chain. This six‑month, unpaid internship offers hands‑on experience in research, coordination, and communication within the UN system.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with country‑level project activities, including life‑cycle and circularity assessments.
• Review and contribute to project deliverables and management processes.
• Conduct research on chemicals in textiles, fashion consumption trends, and related policy topics.
• Support communications by drafting newsletters, campaign materials, and event content.
• Help organise international events and webinars related to the Textile Initiative.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or final‑year student in environmental studies, sustainability, fashion, or a related field.
• Strong research and analytical abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with a multicultural team.

Required skills

• No specific technical tools are mandated; proficiency with standard office software is beneficial.
