Senior Software Engineer - Distributed Systems

About the role

Datadog is looking for a Senior Software Engineer in distributed systems. Engineers in this team design, implement and run in production the foundational platforms that power Datadog's applications, handling billions of events per second in real time. The platforms are optimized for durability, high availability, low latency, internet-scale footprint and operability. The company works as a hybrid workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Build fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable solutions running in multi-tenant environments
• Write in Go, Java, Rust or C++, among other languages
• Use Kafka, Redis, Cassandra, Elasticsearch and other open-source components
• Own meaningful parts of the service, have an impact and grow with the company

Required profile

• BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience
• Significant backend programming experience in one or more languages (Go, Java, Rust, C++)
• Experience working on problems such as high durability and low latency
• Ability to go down to the low level when needed, and a focus on simple designs and performance
• Excited to leverage AI coding tools, with demonstrated ability to use them in day-to-day work and to validate, critique and refine AI-generated output

Required skills

• Backend programming in Go, Java, Rust or C++
• Use of Kafka, Redis, Cassandra and Elasticsearch
