Senior Scientist – Early Formulation & Drug Profiling

About the role

We are seeking a senior scientist in drug delivery and non‑clinical formulation for our research and development center at the Servier Paris‑Saclay Institute in Gif‑sur‑Yvette. As a member of the Early Formulation and Drug Profiling (EFDP) team within DMPK, you will lead drug‑delivery innovation projects, oversee non‑clinical formulation activities and drive physicochemical characterization to advance drug candidates toward development.

Key responsibilities

• Design and supervise formulation strategies such as lipid systems, solid dispersions and nanosuspensions for poorly soluble or permeable molecules.
• Lead developability assessments of new chemical entities, evaluating solubility, dissolution and absorption impacts.
• Identify and implement advanced targeted drug‑delivery technologies, including blood‑brain barrier approaches and in‑vitro permeability tools.
• Collaborate with DMPK, in‑vivo, medicinal chemistry, CMC and translational medicine teams to align data and solve complex problems.
• Prepare high‑level technical reports, monitor scientific and regulatory trends, and disseminate findings internally and externally.
• Mentor associate scientists and technicians, ensuring transfer of technical expertise.

Required profile

• PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology, Formulation, Chemistry or a related discipline.
• 8–10 years of experience in formulation and targeted drug delivery within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Proven expertise with low‑solubility/permeability molecules (BCS II‑IV) and modalities such as oligonucleotide‑based therapeutics.
• Strong knowledge of how physicochemical properties influence solubility, dissolution and absorption.
• Familiarity with drug‑discovery processes and pre‑clinical study design.

Required skills

• Solubilization techniques and targeted drug‑delivery technologies.
• Formulation of lipid systems, solid dispersions and nanosuspensions.
• Physicochemical characterization (X‑ray diffraction, DSC, laser particle‑size analysis, µ‑dissolution).
• PBPK modeling and AI tools for predicting physicochemical properties, solubility and formulation outcomes.
• Experience with oligonucleotide and antibody‑based therapeutic modalities.
