Senior Data Scientist – Multi-omics AI & Target Identification

About the role

Pierre Fabre Laboratories is looking for a Senior Data Scientist in Toulouse (Oncopole-Langlade location) to join its Data Science & Biometry department within R&D Medical Care. The role combines AI research, computational biology and drug discovery, designing AI systems that learn from high-dimensional biological data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, functional screens) to accelerate target identification, translational research and precision medicine.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and apply machine learning and deep learning models to integrate multi-omics data for target identification and prioritization.
• Identify molecular mechanisms, pathways and vulnerabilities across cancer indications to deepen disease understanding.
• Support downstream assessments such as target discovery, toxicity prediction and patient stratification.
• Design and train models using representation learning, self-supervised learning and domain adaptation, and apply transformer-based architectures to omics data.
• Ensure model robustness, reproducibility, interpretability and scientific validity.
• Work with HPC and/or cloud environments to scale training and experimentation.
• Collaborate with biologists, translational scientists and drug discovery teams, and contribute to shared AI frameworks.

Required profile

• PhD or Master's degree in Data Science, Computational Biology or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data science applied to life sciences.
• Demonstrated experience in multi-omics data analysis for target discovery or translational research.
• Hands-on experience developing machine learning and deep learning models.
• Strong grounding in bioinformatics, cancer biology and pathway-level reasoning.
• Professional proficiency in English (written and oral).

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Transformer, representation learning, self-supervised learning and domain adaptation.
• Familiarity with HPC and/or cloud computing environments.
