Senior Data Scientist - Demand Forecast

About the role

Decathlon is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join its Demand and Assortment Planning team within the Supply Chain department. You will develop AI models into production and give insights and recommendations to optimise demand forecasting and assortment planning. Candidates with expertise in time series forecasting are especially welcome.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse historical sales data and market trends to forecast demand for Decathlon products.
• Develop and implement statistical models and machine learning algorithms for demand forecasting and assortment planning, including foundation models.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain Business, Engineering and Product Development teams to align data and AI efforts with business objectives.
• Evaluate and improve existing forecasting models and methodologies.
• Share insights and recommendations with stakeholders through clear data visualisations and presentations.
• Stay up to date on industry trends and emerging technologies in data science and supply chain management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data science, statistical modelling or related fields.
• Preferred: Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Operations Research or a related field, and experience in demand forecasting, inventory optimisation or supply chain analytics.
• Preferred: familiarity with Agile and project management tools, and previous experience in retail or e-commerce.

Required skills

• Statistical analysis, forecasting, machine learning and time series analysis (stationarity, decomposition, drift, anomaly detection).
• Python, Spark, TensorFlow, PyTorch, pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib or ggplot2, SQL and PySpark.
• Preferred: experience with demand forecasting and inventory optimisation tools, and with Generative AI.
• Technical environment: Databricks, AWS EKS, Sagemaker, Airflow, MLFlow, Tableau, Git, Confluence, Docker, Protobuf, gRPC, GitHub Actions, Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.
