Senior Battery Cell Modeling Engineer – Electrothermal R&D

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Battery Cell Modeling Engineer to lead the development of electrothermal models for next‑generation sodium‑ion battery cells. The role supports design decisions, optimises electrical and thermal performance, and accelerates product development in a high‑level R&D environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, calibrate and validate electrothermal and ageing models for sodium‑ion battery cells.
• Create new modelling approaches for next‑generation battery technologies.
• Correlate simulation results with experimental data to improve model accuracy and robustness.
• Assess the impact of design choices (architecture, geometry, components) on electrical and thermal performance.
• Collaborate with testing teams to define validation protocols and document modelling methodologies.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Electrical, Thermal, Energy, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in electrothermal modelling of battery cells, preferably within a battery manufacturer or automotive environment.
• Strong analytical skills, autonomy, and ability to thrive in a high‑level R&D setting.
• Professional proficiency in English.

Required skills

• MATLAB/Simulink for numerical simulation.
• COMSOL Multiphysics or equivalent multiphysics software.
• Electrothermal and battery ageing modelling techniques.
• Experience correlating models with experimental data.
