Safety Assessor – Cosmetic Toxicology

About the role

As a member of L’Oréal’s Worldwide Safety Evaluation team in Clichy, you will ensure the safety of cosmetic products for millions of consumers worldwide. Reporting to Safety Evaluation leadership, you will collaborate with experts across France, the US and China and work closely with Regulatory, Claim Substantiation and Microbiology teams.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and characterize toxicological hazards of cosmetic ingredients using read‑across, structural and biological analogies.
• Detect data gaps and propose New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), including in silico modelling and in vitro assays.
• Implement Next‑Generation Risk Assessment (NGRA) and design testing programmes for raw materials and finished formulas.
• Partner with Research & Innovation labs to evaluate innovative ingredients, packaging and non‑conventional product formats.
• Prepare high‑quality regulatory dossiers and support post‑marketing safety issues.
• Represent L’Oréal at scientific conferences, workshops and industry task forces.

Required profile

• PhD or Master’s degree in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Veterinary Science, Chemistry or Biology.
• At least 8 years of experience in toxicology or safety assessment within industry or regulatory agencies.
• Proactive, results‑oriented mindset with strong project ownership.
• Excellent communication skills in multicultural environments; fluency in English required, French a plus.
