Research Scientist Team Leader – Chemist (Organic Synthesis & Formulation)

About the role

OZ Biosciences is seeking a passionate Research Scientist Chemist to lead its Chemistry & Formulation team within R&D. The leader will drive innovative projects on lipid, polymer and nanoparticle synthesis and formulation, supporting the development of next‑generation nucleic‑acid technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead R&D projects focused on design, synthesis and characterization of lipids and polymers.
• Perform multi‑step synthesis, purification and analytical characterization of target molecules.
• Develop, optimize and evaluate the efficiency and stability of lipid‑ and polymer‑based nanoparticles.
• Assess potency, performance and reproducibility of new research products.
• Mentor and train team members, ensuring high‑quality scientific reporting.
• Collaborate with biologists, formulation experts, bioproduction, marketing, business development and QA in an ISO‑9001 environment.
• Manage external collaborations, draft grant proposals, manuscripts and patent applications.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemistry with at least 3 years of relevant experience; post‑doctoral or research experience required.
• Strong expertise in lipid and polymer synthesis and associated analytical methods.
• Proven track record in organic chemistry, formulation and scientific publications.
• Knowledge of nucleic‑acid technologies, transfection, magnetic nanoparticles is a strong advantage.
• Organized, autonomous, highly motivated with a creative scientific mindset.
• Fluent English with excellent communication skills.
