Research Engineer/Postdoc – Stretchable Electronics & Optics for Artificial Skin

About the role

The position is for a Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Engineer working on soft electronics and optical sensing for artificial skin. You will join the Centre of Microelectronics and the Flexible Electronics Department to develop stretchable optical waveguides and integrate them into demonstrator devices.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate and characterize elastomer waveguides for pressure and temperature sensing.
• Integrate optically sensitive materials (LEDs, photodiodes) into the waveguides.
• Validate complete sensing devices through testing and performance evaluation.

Required profile

• PhD or Master’s degree (Bac+5) in engineering, electronics, or a related field.
• Autonomous, curious, rigorous and passionate about technological innovation with strong practical laboratory skills.
• Interest in scientific experimentation and ability to follow a rigorous scientific approach.

Required skills

• Python programming (including test‑bench development).
• Arduino and/or Raspberry Pi experience.
• Electronic circuit design and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of optics, photonics and soft‑electronics concepts.
• Materials characterization and clean‑room procedures.
