Programme Management Officer – Textile Initiative

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Programme Management Officer to lead the coordination of its Textile Initiative. Based in the Industry and Economy Division’s Textile Unit in Paris, the incumbent will report to the Chief of the Industry Innovation Branch and will drive cross‑division and regional collaboration to advance a sustainable, circular textile value chain.

Key responsibilities

• Strategically plan and coordinate the delivery of the UNEP textile portfolio across all UNEP divisions, regional and country offices.
• Manage the Textile Unit, overseeing partnerships with strategic organisations and initiatives.
• Develop, implement and monitor the impact of the Textile Initiative and related projects, reviewing reports and identifying challenges.
• Define and apply corrective actions, ensuring follow‑up with relevant parties.
• Work with governments to create policy‑enabling environments that promote sustainability in the textile sector.
• Provide strategic leadership and encourage sector‑wide collaboration for a just transition toward a circular textile economy.

Required profile

• Proven experience in programme management and coordination of multi‑stakeholder initiatives.
• Familiarity with environmental policy, sustainability and the textile value chain.
• Ability to engage effectively with governments, private sector partners and UN entities.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills to monitor project impact.
