Post-Doc Fellowship – Numerical Prediction of LVAD-Induced Aortic Remodeling

About the role

The successful candidate will join the SAINBIOSE laboratory at Mines Saint‑Étienne to work on the TwinHeart project. The post‑doc will develop innovative multi‑scale computational models that predict how a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) alters the mechanical behavior of the aortic wall.

Key responsibilities

• Develop biomechanical models of the aortic wall response to LVAD‑induced loading, calibrated with in‑vivo imaging and histological data.
• Simulate pathological remodeling using growth and remodeling frameworks to anticipate fibrotic or aneurysmal transformations.
• Identify safe implantation zones and derive patient‑specific LVAD placement guidelines that preserve vascular function.
• Collaborate with clinicians, engineers, and industry partners to translate models into practical recommendations.

Required profile

• PhD in mechanics, biomechanics or a closely related field (junior applicants accepted).
• Strong knowledge of computational methods for mechanics and biomechanics.
• Prior experience developing computational models of biological tissues.
