National Lead Investigator

About the role

Americans United for Life is seeking a remote National Lead Investigator to manage investigations of unsafe abortion facilities and providers. You will oversee the full investigative lifecycle, from intake to final reporting, supporting the Director of Investigations in advancing high‑impact casework.

Key responsibilities

• Manage complaint and violation intake, communicating with patients, complainants, and partner organizations.
• Collect, verify, and analyze reports of unsafe practices; file and track public records requests.
• Review records, identify critical issues, and prepare concise investigative summaries.
• Research relevant state laws, regulations, and agency protocols for active cases.
• Maintain organized case files and ensure documentation is complete and accessible.
• Provide case updates to leadership and collaborate on special investigative projects.
• Engage with local partners to develop community‑specific investigative strategies and train community members on reporting unsafe practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience in a related field such as legal research, regulatory compliance, or investigative work.
• Familiarity with state regulations, administrative processes, and legal research methods.
