Job description

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Microbiology Technician to run reliable screening campaigns that advance our industrial strains. You will prepare and maintain microbial cultures, execute multiple workflows in parallel, and support routine molecular‑biology and analytical work. Success is measured by clean execution – no contamination, no sample mix‑ups, and complete, timely documentation.

Key responsibilities

  • Run screening campaigns with up to 24 shake‑flask cultures and several plates in parallel, following SOPs and schedules without contamination.
  • Inoculate, plate, restreak and extract microbial cultures while maintaining sterile conditions.
  • Label and track every culture, plate, and sample accurately from colony to analysis, ensuring full traceability.
  • Support experimental workflows such as transformations, colony picking, minipreps, and simple sample preparation.
  • Perform measurements and analyses including optical density, plate‑reader assays, and chemical extractions when required.

Required profile

  • Formal training (BTS, Licence professionnelle, BSc or equivalent) in microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of microbiology and molecular biology with the ability to follow established protocols precisely.
  • Strong laboratory dexterity and comfort with repetitive, high‑throughput work (pipetting plates, handling many samples).
  • Practical experience with aseptic technique and microbial culture obtained through coursework, internship or professional laboratory work.
  • Excellent sample organization, labeling discipline and data‑integrity practices.
  • Ability to manage several experiments at different stages while maintaining traceability.
  • Proactive communication, autonomy, and a team‑first attitude.

Required skills

  • Aseptic technique and microbial culture handling.
  • High‑throughput pipetting and plate handling.
  • Sample labeling and traceability systems.
  • Data recording in spreadsheets and laboratory software.
  • Use of plate readers and optical‑density measurements.
  • Basic chemical extraction procedures.
  • Familiarity with liquid‑handling robots such as VIAFLO or Opentrons (optional).

What we offer

  • Employee Stock Options (BSPCE).
  • Fully covered health insurance (Alan).
  • Lunch voucher of €12 per day.
