Legal Advisor – Trust & Safety

About the role

PURE is seeking a Legal Advisor to join its Trust & Safety and Product teams. You will guide the development and operation of safety features for a sex‑positive, adults‑only dating app, ensuring compliance with a rapidly evolving global regulatory landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret age‑verification laws across US states, France, the UK Online Safety Act, and app‑store frameworks, translating deadlines into product requirements.
• Oversee biometric and privacy compliance, including GDPR, CNIL guidance, and US biometric statutes such as BIPA, managing data‑minimisation and retention for verification vendors.
• Manage child‑safety obligations, including CSAM detection, reporting to NCMEC CyberTipline and EU equivalents, and handling under‑age account incidents.
• Ensure platform‑regulation compliance with the EU Digital Services Act, UK OSA, and state‑level dating‑app legislation, delivering transparency reports and safety notices.
• Define legal bases for law‑enforcement and government data requests, guiding the moderation team on high‑priority escalations.
• Advise on content‑policy enforcement, ban/appeal processes, and user communications in sensitive cases.
• Conduct horizon‑scanning of emerging legislation in top markets, providing actionable implementation timelines.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years of experience in tech and platform regulation.
• Deep knowledge of GDPR, EU platform law, US state‑level online safety/privacy statutes, and the UK Online Safety Act.
• Experience advising Trust & Safety or content‑moderation teams, preferably within a dating or UGC platform.
