Laboratory Team Leader, Drug Development

About the role

This senior position leads a multidisciplinary laboratory team within a global biopharmaceutical organisation, driving early‑stage non‑clinical drug development for both biologics and small molecules. The role sits at the crossroads of Translational Sciences, Immunoanalysis, Bioanalysis and non‑clinical development, ensuring high‑quality scientific outputs from research through proof‑of‑concept.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of scientists, post‑doctoral researchers, technicians and research associates.
• Oversee day‑to‑day laboratory operations and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality data.
• Drive non‑clinical activities including in‑vitro pharmacology, immunogenicity, pharmacokinetics and bioanalysis.
• Maintain compliance with EHS, regulatory and GxP standards.
• Manage laboratory infrastructure, CAPEX planning and vendor/CRO relationships.
• Coordinate across Translational Sciences, Bioanalysis, Immunoanalysis and broader R&D teams.
• Develop talent through coaching, performance management and career planning.
• Optimise processes, documentation and knowledge‑sharing platforms (eLN, SharePoint, Teams).
• Support strategic decisions on assay feasibility, outsourcing and scientific direction.

Required profile

• PhD in Life Sciences with post‑doctoral training.
• Proven experience managing laboratory teams of five or more in biotech, pharmaceutical or CRO settings.
• Strong background in non‑clinical drug development.
• Demonstrated leadership in multidisciplinary, matrix environments.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills in English and French.
