Fraud and Risk Officer Intern

About the role

Back Market, a global marketplace for refurbished devices, is looking for a Fraud and Risk Officer Intern in Paris. You will assess fraud risks on the platform, organise the framework for monitoring and preventing them, and work closely with the finance team. The internship runs for 6 months (January to June 2027), full time (35 hours per week).

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and monitor high-risk transactions for potential fraud.
• Report fraud statistics and share fraud trends to improve detection rates.
• Defend chargebacks on behalf of Back Market.
• Suspend accounts as appropriate or lift suspensions based on appeals.
• Handle customer fraud-related emails and help resolve disputes in claims inquiries.
• Work with Customer Support so fraud risks are managed with minimal friction for customers.
• Analyse fraud and payment data to identify vulnerabilities and take action.

Required profile

• Student in Finance (or equivalent) looking for a 6-month internship.
• Fluent English; other languages are a bonus.
• Investigative mind, highly detail-oriented, with a strong sense of confidentiality and integrity.
• Data-oriented; first experience in fraud prevention or e-commerce is a plus.

Required skills

• Comfortable using Excel.
