Founding Software Engineer

About the role

Steerlab is building AI‑powered automation for sales teams, turning lengthy RFP and questionnaire responses into minutes‑long, on‑brand answers. As a Founding Software Engineer you will join the founding team to design and implement the core agentic AI platform that powers this transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with founders to define architecture and roadmap for the end‑to‑end platform.
• Develop and maintain critical components using Gleam, Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Implement new product features that have immediate impact on customer experience.
• Contribute to AI model integration, vector‑database handling, and cloud infrastructure.
• Identify and improve areas outside your immediate scope to ensure system reliability and scalability.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Product‑focused mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
• High level of autonomy and ability to work effectively in a fast‑moving startup.
• Team player who balances deep individual work with cross‑team collaboration.

Required skills

• Python
• TypeScript / JavaScript

• Experience with vector databases
• Familiarity with at least one cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• DevOps practices and tooling
• Message brokers (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)
