Experimental Quantum Physicist

About the role

C12 Quantum Electronics is building a hybrid quantum processor based on spin qubits in carbon nanotubes. As a member of the Qubit Control team you will design, run and optimise experiments in dilution cryostats, develop scalable measurement workflows and translate experimental insights into engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, calibrate and optimise DC and microwave experiments in dilution cryostats equipped with high‑frequency control electronics.
• Develop reproducible, automated measurement and analysis pipelines that can run with increasing autonomy.
• Maintain a tight feedback loop with engineering and theory teams to continuously improve device performance.
• Collaborate with software engineers to implement experiment scheduling, data handling and automation for scaling toward a full quantum processing unit.

Required profile

• PhD (or Master’s with substantial research experience) in quantum physics or a closely related discipline.
• Strong scientific drive to contribute to building a fault‑tolerant quantum computer.
• Excellent written and spoken English for communication with technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with quantum experiments such as DC transport and microwave spectroscopy.
• Proficiency in Python for experiment control, data processing and tool development.
• Familiarity with dilution cryostats and high‑frequency control electronics.
