Elementary Assistant Teacher (2026‑2027)

About the role

We are seeking an Elementary Assistant Teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year to support classroom teachers in delivering effective learning experiences for young students.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise assigned students and assist the classroom teacher with daily lesson planning.
• Conduct learning exercises, guide children in collaborative play, and promote harmonious interactions.
• Monitor and report special needs of individual children to the teacher.
• Provide escort and assistance to children as required, and help maintain individual records.
• Encourage good eating habits and table manners, and assist in keeping work and study areas tidy.
• Support supervision of children during regular play periods and prepare educational displays.
• Perform tasks assigned by the principal or supervisory teacher and other duties as needed.

Required profile

• High School Diploma.
• Passing score on the Assistant Teacher WorkKeys test, or equivalent qualifications acceptable to the Board.
• Ability to move freely around the classroom, stand, walk, squat, kneel, and lift up to 30 lb (occasionally up to 50 lb).
• Effective communication skills for interacting with students and staff.
