Director of Communications

About the role

Sport Network is seeking a Director of Communications to lead its communication strategy on a full‑time remote basis. You will shape messaging for both external and internal audiences, supporting the brand, key initiatives, and strategic partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and publish press releases and official announcements.
• Manage media outreach and maintain strong relationships with journalists and outlets.
• Coordinate with senior leadership on strategic communications and announcements.
• Ensure consistent messaging across all channels, including digital platforms and social media.
• Monitor public sentiment, guide crisis communications, and respond to emerging issues.
• Collaborate with marketing, product, and community teams to align messaging with organizational goals.
• Coach team members on communication best practices and uphold brand standards.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in strategic communications, press releases, and media relations.
• Strong public‑relations and stakeholder‑management track record.
• Experience developing communication strategies for digital or sports‑related platforms.
• Excellent written and verbal English; additional language skills are a plus.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
• Experience leading or mentoring communication teams and collaborating cross‑functionally.
• Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent experience).
