Design System Manager – Lead Purse Design System

About the role

Pennylane is looking for a Design System Manager to own Purse, its design system, as a product. You will define the vision, roadmap, governance and quality bar while working hands‑on and guiding a growing team of designers.

Key responsibilities

• Own the vision, roadmap, and governance of Purse, evolving it toward an AI‑ready future.
• Set and uphold quality standards for components, tokens, patterns and accessibility, building hands‑on while providing craft leadership.
• Drive adoption, measure system value and report impact, partnering with Design Ops and engineering.

Required profile

• Proven experience defining vision and roadmap for a design system at scale, supporting 40+ designers and engineers.
• Strong product sense, ability to balance long‑term vision with milestone‑driven delivery.
• Excellent communication in English and French, collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in design‑system craft: components, APIs, token systems, theming, multi‑brand.
• Technical acumen with design‑system implementation in code, familiarity with Figma and code‑first environments.
• Knowledge of AI‑ready design‑system documentation, machine‑readable formats, and LLM consumption (e.g., MCP, Style Dictionary, Tokens Studio).
