Deputy Fleet Director

About the role

The Deputy Fleet Director supports the Fleet Director in managing CMA CGM’s containership fleet, ensuring high performance, safety, and compliance with international standards. This senior position is central to the company’s global maritime operations and contributes to strategic objectives around efficiency and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with IMS, international regulations, and CMA CGM’s quality, health, safety, environmental and ethics policies.
• Develop and continuously improve the fleet performance management system, including KPIs, governance, and reporting routines.
• Coordinate the annual vessel operating budget process, monthly cost reviews, and corrective actions.
• Lead the preparation and review of dry‑docking specifications and major repair tenders.
• Produce monthly operational packs and dashboards for decision‑making.
• Support audit readiness, documentation discipline, and implementation of lessons learned across the fleet.
• Approve orders, invoices and payments within authorized limits and assist in emergency response.

Required profile

• Proven experience in maritime fleet management or a related senior operational role.
• Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations and quality‑safety‑environment standards.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional projects and coordinate with technical, QSSE, crewing, procurement and finance teams.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
