Data Center Chief Engineer

About the role

Amazon Web Services is seeking a seasoned Chief Engineer to lead the Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) team in Saint‑Denis. You will be the technical authority for all mechanical, electrical, and fire‑protection systems, ensuring they operate at peak efficiency and support the 99.999% uptime required for critical AWS services.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation and maintenance of data‑center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Act as the escalation point for all facility‑related issues and coordinate resolution with the Facility Manager and third‑party contractors.
• Manage low‑to‑medium impact projects from design through delivery, collaborating with engineering, automation, operations, and finance teams.
• Lead, train, and mentor Engineering Operations Technicians in troubleshooting and operating critical infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with fire protection and life‑safety standards across the site.

Required profile

• Proven experience in large‑scale data‑center or industrial facility engineering.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and fire‑protection systems.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating with cross‑functional and international teams.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a commitment to operational excellence.
