Counsel Institutional Affairs – Short-term Contract

About the role

INTERPOL is seeking a qualified legal professional to support the Deputy General Counsel in delivering legal services across the General Secretariat, governing bodies and Member Countries. This short‑term, six‑month position focuses on institutional, policy and administrative matters that underpin the Organization’s global policing mission.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and conduct research on complex public international law issues.
• Assist in drafting, reviewing and interpreting decisions, reports and other documents for the Assembly and Executive Committee.
• Prepare legal opinions, studies and memoranda on institutional and procedural matters.
• Support the application and interpretation of the Rules of Procedure of INTERPOL’s governing bodies.
• Collaborate with various departments to ensure legal compliance of organisational activities.

Required profile

• Demonstrated professional experience in public international law, with verifiable employment records.
• Ability to produce high‑quality legal analyses and draft authoritative documents.
• Strong understanding of institutional and administrative law within an international organization.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Lyon and to commence duties within two months of an offer.
