Counsel – Fixed‑Term Legal Advisor in Lyon

About the role

INTERPOL is seeking a qualified Counsel to join its Executive Office in Lyon on a 36‑month fixed‑term contract. Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Executive Office, the incumbent will provide legal, strategic and coordination support across the Executive Directorate of Legal Affairs (EDLA).

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal and strategic advice on transversal matters within EDLA.
• Assist in planning, coordinating and monitoring priority initiatives, governance matters and institutional projects.
• Prepare strategic documentation and legal analyses for high‑level deliverables.
• Support coordination between EDLA and other parts of the Organization.
• Monitor implementation of key initiatives and ensure compliance with legal standards.

Required profile

• Relevant legal qualification (e.g., law degree, bar admission).
• Professional legal experience with verifiable employment history.
• Ability to exercise sound legal judgment and analytical skills.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders in an international or multilateral environment.
• Willingness to undergo basic security screening and comply with INTERPOL’s recruitment procedures.
