Compliance Officer – Regulatory & Governance (Mid‑Level)

About the role

The Compliance Officer will join the Regulatory & Governance team of the Legal & Compliance Department at the Bank of China Paris Branch. This mid‑level position focuses on strengthening the bank’s compliance risk management and ensuring day‑to‑day regulatory activities are executed correctly.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and disseminate monthly regulatory watch updates covering French and European legislation.
• Ensure proper implementation of regulatory requirements such as MiFID, EMIR, GDPR, DORA, CRD, and related Group rules.
• Lead and participate in regulatory projects and develop/up‑date compliance policies and procedures.
• Perform second‑level controls according to the team’s control plan and prepare reports for authorities (OIB, QPC, RACI, etc.).
• Design and deliver training courses for bank employees and raise business awareness of regulatory risks.
• Maintain regulatory registers (conflicts of interest, personal transactions, insiders, claims) and support GDPR‑related activities.
• Prepare compliance committee materials and contribute to broader LCD Department tasks as required.

Required profile

• University degree in Law (financial or banking law), Finance or Compliance.
• At least 4 years of experience in regulatory compliance within a bank, financial institution or consulting firm, covering customer protection and market compliance.
• Fluent French and English (written and spoken); Mandarin is a plus.
• Professional certifications such as AMF, CFA, ACAMS or DPO are advantageous.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of French and EU financial regulations (MiFID, EMIR, DORA, CRD, etc.).
• Experience with GDPR compliance in a banking environment.
• Ability to draft compliance policies, conduct second‑level controls and prepare regulatory reports.
