Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Mistral is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to build and maintain the core systems that power its AI platform. You will work on high‑performance APIs and services that support millions of users, enabling authentication, billing, AI tooling, and a seamless developer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend features and APIs for the AI platform.
• Ensure high performance, reliability, and security across distributed systems.
• Build and improve systems for authentication, billing, AI tooling, and developer experience.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams on deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver end‑to‑end features.
• Solve complex engineering challenges and integrate new technologies into production.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and building scalable backend systems and APIs.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to tackle complex engineering challenges.
• Experience with distributed systems and performance optimization.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code.
• Background in system architecture and secure, scalable design.
• Effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
• Familiarity with modern backend frameworks and technologies.
• Eagerness to learn, iterate, and deliver products.
