About the role

This three‑year PhD project focuses on advanced spectroscopy techniques to characterize catalysts used for ammonia production and cracking, aiming to enable efficient energy storage solutions. The research will be conducted within the Unit of Catalysis and Solid Chemistry (UCCS) at the University of Lille, starting on 1 October 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and apply state‑of‑the‑art spectroscopic methods to investigate catalyst structures and reaction mechanisms.
• Design and perform experiments on ammonia synthesis and cracking processes.
• Analyse data to correlate catalyst properties with performance in energy‑storage applications.
• Collaborate with the CATANA‑2 project team and contribute to scientific publications.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field.
• Strong interest in catalysis, spectroscopy, and renewable energy technologies.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary research team.
