Technical Support Engineer - Automotive Sector

About the role

Hexcel, a global leader in advanced composite materials such as carbon fiber, resins, prepregs and honeycombs, is looking for a Technical Support Engineer (F/H) for its French location in Dagneux or Les Avenières, which can also be based at another European site or remotely. The engineer acts as the technical interface to customers, supports the sales process and ensures the successful implementation and maintenance of automotive products.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to automotive customers in central Europe, answering inquiries and resolving issues on product performance and application
• Plan, run, document and evaluate tests in production, technical centers and laboratories
• Lead and take part in application technology and development projects, with full documentation and reporting
• Coordinate product qualification with selected customers in line with industry standards
• Characterize development materials and competitor products to support product development
• Apply composite material design models and approaches for automotive applications
• Compile and verify technical data for product datasheets
• Travel up to 50% of the time to support customers in Europe, mainly Germany and northern Italy

Required profile

• Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 5 years of relevant experience in the automotive sector, especially in technical support and product development
• Fluent English; French and other languages are appreciated

Required skills

• Strong technical competence in plastics, composites and their production and processing
• Extensive experience with composite materials and manufacturing processes in automotive environments
• Good understanding of design models and methodologies for structural composite parts
• Team collaboration, communication, flexibility and adaptability to changing project needs
